  1. Yes, they can.

Here is a short list of what birds CANNOT eat:

    avocado

    rhubarb

    chocolate

    caffeine

    alcohol

    eggplant

It's true that birds should not eat much table food, but small quantities are fine when supplemented with bird seeds and nuts.

  2. birds can eat them but it is not healthy for them.

if i was you i would stick to seed and fresh fruit and veg daily.

This sort of diet could cause health issues in the long run.

Look after you little ones and follow most guidlines.

    Good luck

  3. I assume you are talking about your pet birds and most pet birds are hookbills or some sort of parrot.  If your birds are showing an interest in the foods you eat, by all means offer it to them.  Eating is a very social aspect of life for a bird and it will help you bond ever so much.  I have three fids and one of the favorite all time foods is 'cousin', usually chicken.  Try NOT giving my birds cousin if you have it!!  (I dare you)  I have one who hates to get her feet wet, but she will get her feet wet for some cousin.  I have two others that have a preference for different parts of the sandwich:  one eats the bread and the other goes for the cheese.  I would only suggest that you limit salt and ham has a great deal of salt in it.  Some lunch meats also have a lot of salt.  I have heard repeatedely that avacado is bad for them, so I would not give that to your birds.  A big hit in our household are frozen peas.  I take a handful and let them thaw in the fridge overnight so when I make breakfast (for them, I don't bother with breakfast for myself!) I add a spoonful of peas to their breakfast.  Another big hit is melon and cucumber seeds.  They come up with the mash all over their beaks.  And yes on the bread as well.  I always put a few spoonfuls of unseasoned pasta or rice aside when I make that and add a small spoonfull to their dishes as well.  I used to give them croutons, but stay away from seasonings because there is something sinister about a bird with garlic breath - I almost took him to the vet until I realized he got into seasoned rice.

Keep the wet foods and the dry foods seperated.  I also stay away from sorbitol and diet people food.  It just doesn't seem right.  If you are in doubt, do what you did and ask first before giving it to them.  And remember that a baby sized spoonful is a large portion to a bird.  I keep a batch of plastic baby forks and spoons in the kitchen just for measuring out their breakfast foods.  They usually get four different foods every morning.  Some they eat; some they don't.  Of course they always have a mix of pellets, dried fruit and vegetables, and seeds available.

  4. little pieces

  5. the simple answer is yes

    Birds can eat anything

BUT that doesn't mean it is good for them

besides what kind of bird do you have??

Most birds are not carnivores (meat eaters)

    but they are mainly herbivores

(herbs, plants, fruit and seeds etc)

also neither of those foods you have mentioned are good for birds

unless  you are talking about a vulture haha

    .. he'll eat meat

    (Not bread though)

  6. Yes. My birds LOVE all kinds of meat (cooked, of course). When they get hold of a piece of bread, though, they just tear it up into croutons and play with it.
