Black to move. Can black do anything to avoid being checkmated on white's next move?

Seems like the queen can just move into the bottom right corner (h1) and checkmate black no matter what.

  1. 1...Nc3 looked promising but Qh8#

I think this is a mate in one.

  2. Good day!

I agree with Ben in saying that the White Queen can't move to h1 bacause Ne1 is blocking the way. However, White can mate the Black King by moving : Qa1-d4 (White Queen is protected by Nb5).

Possession wise, White should win the game sooner or later but to avoid the Black from losing the game on the next move, Black should move : Bc4xNb5 (capturing the protecting piece).

Finally, Black can have a slim chance of winning or at least drawing the game if one of the pawns or better, both of the pawns are promoted into Queens.

    *Hope this helps!

  3. The white queen can't even get to h1...

I'm guessing the knight in e1 isn't actually in the problem, so let's solve it without the knight.

There's actually no way to checkmate the black in one move, if the blacks play first.

They can just move the king to d5...

If the queen go to h1, king move to c5.

On any other check move, the king move to c6.

The black will lose.. but they won't fall in only 1 move.

  4. I only looked at it for 2 minutes. First I think you made a mistake , white queen can't get to h1 , there's a knight in the way . Also there is no immediate checkmate I don't think, but there is one very soon .
