  1. No a Blu-Ray is a Blu-Ray. A DVD is a completely different media and will not play on a DVD player. Apples and oranges.


  2. With the right software you would be able to, but for what purpose?  DVD's can only work with a 480i/p resolution, while blu-ray can support up to 1080.  So why not just buy the DVD version of the movie and save yourself the effort.
