Can blind and deaf people have dogs in Islam to get around?

I mean obviously dogs are useful. They can see things that blind people can't, and hear things like traffic that deaf people can't hear. I know you can't keep dogs as pets in Islam and that dogs carry diseases like tapeworms in their saliva, but how would a deaf or blind person get around, without a dog to guide them across traffic and busy intersections.

  1. What the dogs do for a deaf person? A carnivorous animal can be used for hunting and to pick up the hunted birds or animals. But the fact is that even today you will have to take 5 injections for any dog bite, each ARS injection dose will cost you Rs. 500 to Rs 1500 depending on the hospital. How will you eat the hunted animals or birds if dogs bite them?

I wish such a situation doesnot arise for any blind or deaf person not even once in their lifetime.

  4. I agree and I would say yes to this too. I think in an exceptional case like this, dogs would be allowed because they are there to protect you and guide you.

  5. yes this is an exception!!!

  6. Islam is a religon not a place.

  7. Yes, dogs can be kept for protection.  SO as this would be for protection, the answer is yes.

  8. Yes, most certainly.

  9. Obviously....Yes.

Islam is not a hard religion, there are things that are made easy for us...For example, if a woman needs to take her scarf off in front of a doctor..It's allowed because its a health reason...

So a blind seeing eye dog would be allowed.
