Question:

Can body chemicals daily effect the way a person perceives taste

I have noticed that my husband will eat the same things and one day say it tastes great and the next time, prepared the same way say it tastes bad. I have cooked spaghetti sauce and divided it onto three portions to freeze. One time he will tell me it was great, another say it was bad. He is hypoglycemic, so could that be effecting the way he tastes foods?

  1. It could be chemistry issue like you said.

Also some of the things we consume effect our olfactory sensors. For example if you use a toothpaste which contains lauryl sulfate, it effects your taste buds so that you cannot taste sweet for a while. Try drinking orange juice after you clean your teeth, it will be bitter and not sweet.

it stands to reason that there would be many other possible interactions which can effect taste.

If ever there are any questions about blood sugar, that should be investigated.
