  1. Body dysmorphic disorder is similar to OCD in that there is a constant obsession. If this obsession gets in the way of learning, then the child will be able to access special education under either the Other Health Impaired category or under Emotional/Behavior Disorders.

    I would definitely look into the possibility of special education services for this child. You will get free ability and academic assessments as well as free counseling if the child meets the criteria.  

    The first step is to go to the school counselor with your doctor's report and diagnosis. Remember, you can only do this if the child is having academic problems because special education services are only offered to students with learning difficulties.
