the next morning when i went to let him out of his cage he was dead..

  1. no! my rabbits eat bread every day

only thing is if there is butter on it or if the bread is salty, it may cause loss of hair

but they can't die of eating bread.

they could also not have over eaten because all animals know instinctively what and how much to eat, once their stomach is full, they would stop eating.

however if you think he died eating the bread only then probably the bread must have been stale.

    sorry for your bunny

  2. Yes, it is bad for them.

  3. No

  4. yes probably..

i know its bad for them.. and considereing that he ate quite a bit

    probs.

why would they tell us that bread was bad if it wasnt dangerous in some way

    hope this helped.

    sorry for your bun.

    bless

  5. Well, no, not really.

Bread's not especially bad for them- it's not a regular food you should give them, and it's not really a treat since they don't like it like they like fruit and veg, but it wouldn't have killed him.

Eating too much of any food could have killed him, however.

  6. Yes the yeast kills there bacteria in there tummys! Rabbits cant throw up so it has to come out in their poo! If the bacteria goes they cant digest it and yeast/bread swells and I bet they did it on purpose. I am so sorry for your loss!

  7. Just to make sure you know these things

some of the things I read above are so not true

Rabbits do over eat, if they didn't obesity wouldn't be a problem

Molds are poisonous but we shouldn't assume right away that it was the bread.

There could've been something new in your backyard.

Your neighbor could've also applied pesticides to his backyard.

A wild animal could have also been harassing your bunny, rabbits can die from being taunted by predators from outside its cage.

    Weather is also a factor.

The bunny could've also had a disease and the bread could've triggered his death.

And just because rabbits are wild animals, your bunny was never a wild animal. Rabbits that survive in the wild were more or less born and raised in the wild. Would you know how to survive in a dessert just because others do? No.

    Just keep those in mind

  8. generally rabbits should only be given bread thats toasted in the oven until its hard, but i dont think just bread couldve killed it, unless it ate LOADS.

on the other hand, it might not have been the bread itself, maybe there was some poison on it? maybe you neighbours put poison on the bread for rats or something? then somone threw it over?

    hope i helped

    sorry bout the poor bunny

  9. hello there

what bread did he ate?what kind of bread, exactly?some breads have many salt content.salt can kill rabbits.so it's not in question that your rabbit died out of the bread if ever the bread is salty.

did you check out the bread?did it have any mold or anything unusual on the bread?it may be poisoned,of course.there is a high chance that the bread is already old and is moldy now that's why your neighbor thew it out of the fence.it may be the cause of the death.

    sorry for the loss.best wishes.
