Could they hatch without a heater? Or will they not hatch? Or will it take longer? Or what?

  1. it can happen without a heater but slowly and they won't be that healthy

by a heater and set it to 80 degrees Fahrenheit they will hatch quickly

  2. No, they do not need a heater, but they should have an air stone to keep the eggs circulating until they hatch.

Yes, heat will help them hatch a bit sooner, but not much.

Once they have hatched, a bright flashlight placed on one side of the hatchery will attract the BBS (baby brine shrimp).  When you see a cloud of them around the light source, use a piece of air line tubing to siphon them out into a VERY fine net (bbs nets can be purchased at the lfs (local fish store).  Then you can transfer them to your tank for the baby fish (fry) to eat.

  3. when I bred bettas I never used a heater for hatching brine shrimp to feed my baby bettas... mind you the water was at a comfy 72 degrees Fahrenheit

  4. just got 2 pts

edit: this guy did the same thing to me, it's only fair i do it back.

  5. Hi,

I think they can. I asked someone at a fish store how to hatch them and she just said to put them in a jar with aquarium salt. She did not say they needed a heater.

    Hope this helps,

    Alea

  6. Yes, I used to hatch the brine shrimp at room temperature. I don't know if it's faster with a heater though, because I never used a heater.

I know that if you run out of sea salt you can use regular table salt to hatch them.
