Question:

Can bugs live inside a synthetic sleeping bag for two years?

Two years ago my daughter took a sleeping bag to Mexico. She had some bug bites and thought bugs were in her sleeping bag. I put the bag (folded in half not rolled up) in our garage. This year another daughter took the bag camping inside a log cabin. She returned with bites on her back. She did say she saw ants in her cabin and one other girl had bites too, but not as bad as my daughters. Could bugs live in a bag for 2 whole years, and if so how do I get rid of them? Should I just toss the bag?

PS- We never actually saw bugs in the bag.

  1. The life cycle of a bug is not up to two years. So forget about it coming from mexico after some few months they can't survive without blood.Your daughters bite is from the recent trip she went to not from the bug from Mexico.

But to be on safer side would advise you to toss it.

  2. Bugs can be so small from naked eyes.  When conditions are highly equipped for these bugs, it could live for a very long time...but still depends on its life cycle.  Insecticide would be a possible solution to eliminate the bugs but be careful for the unwanted harmfull effects to you.
