Can cabbage cause a false positive pregnancy test result?

I took 4 home pregnancy tests. Two were dollar store brand and two were clear blue easy with the +/-. All four came back with a pretty dark positive. We have been trying to conceive and I cant yet believe that i am pregnant. Im in shock. I am waiting for my doctor's office to open so I can schedule a blood test... however, I wanted to see what the chances of false-positives are so I dont get my hopes up too high.... and I even went as far as to type in what I ate last night, which consisted of a large amount of cabbage. When I googled false-positives and cabbage there were a few results that said cabbage could trigger a false-positive. So now I am a nervous wreck. I have been so excited with my 4 positive tests and now I dont want to find out that I am, in deed, not pregnant. Has anyone heard of such a thing, cabbage causing false-positives?

  1. congrats girl you did it

  2. lol honey, no, you are pregnant!! Congrats :)

  3. Congratulations you are pregnant. No pregnancy tests would not give a false positive. They detects a hormone in your body that is only released once pregnant. As you have been trying for baby it will probably take ages to sink in. With three of my pregnancies i didn't believe it until i went for my scan even though i was throwing up all the time lol.

  4. NO! LOL! You are pregnant, no doubt.

    Congratulations and good luck!

    :)

  5. my doctor told me that is very rare to see a false positive and i highly doubt you get 4 false positive and unless the cabbage you ate was injected with loads of HCG hormone... Congratulations mama...

  6. The only thing that causes a positive line is the hCG hormone.

Wherever you heard that, it's rubbish.  Congratulations on your pregnancy!

  7. only if you have s*x with it
