Can carbon black be made into a dye?

I'd really like to know an easy way to make pure carbon black and how to convert it into a good dye, rather than a paint. A dye that keeps carbon black's super- deep black.

  1. Carbon is not the same kind of stuff as dyes are made of, so it's dubious. You could make a great ink, though.

    Or you can just buy it and save a bunch of effort. An art supply place can sell you a block of the ink used in Japanese brush painting. Or you get ink used in printing. That might work fairly well.


  2. you mean like cartridge toner for a copy machine?

    it ruined a good pair of MY pants......maybe you could

    turn it into a dye.
