  1. Card counting works with any number decks.  The key to any card counting system is "peneration".  Penetration means how many cards from the shoe are played before the dealer shuffles (thus reseting the count).  Peneration is usually quoted in percentages like 66% penetration.  That means regardless of the number of decks in the shoe to start, 66% percent of the cards will be played before shuffling.

You can read more about card counting and practice card counting for free at...

There is an in depth article about the KO Count method, and a free game that assists you with over a dozen different counting systems. I recommend the KO Count because it's one of the easiest counting methods.

There is nothing to install and no java applets. Simply visit the website and start playing.

It assists with the multiple card counting systems. It keeps the count for you, which you can show or hide. That way you show the computers count only when you want to double check your own count. Plus, it tracks each card played as well.

It assists you with basic multi-deck strategy, instructing you how to play against the dealers upcard. The strategy matrix can be shown or hidden.

  2. yes the fewer decks the better but it still works only time it wont work is if they continually shuffle every few hands

  3. Card counting will work with any number of decks dealt in a casino, the determining factor as to weather or not you can win money is based on a combination of how deeply they deal into them before they shuffle, and how much you bet at high counts.

As the deck/shoe is dealt deeper high counts become more and more common, as they are dealt shallower, high counts become rarer and rarer.

Counts have to reach a minimum point at where the player starts to play at an advantage,  the higher this number, the rarer they will be, and the shallower the pentration the rarer they will be.

A betting spread is used to compensate for the rarity of high counts, the rarer the counts yeilding and advantage, the higher you must bet when they occur to maintain a possitive EV.

Only computer simulation can provide the figures needed to determine wether or not a game is beatable based on penetration and bet spread, however 6 and 8 deck shoes are beatable with sizable (reasonable as you inquired)returns with betting spreads around ten to one.

There are methods of playing that do not require betting spreads

Qfit.com has a tool somewhere that allows you to access a database of simulations based on the number of decks, bet spread, and how deep the penetration is

  4. You need to give us a lot more information then you did. What percentage of the shoe is cut from the back and what is the bet range.

Card counting doesn't work in any modern casino.

  5. Well...there's a lot more info needed to answer this accurately, but the most important thing is how deep into the deck they deal.  If they are dealing far enough into the deck, then the answer is yes, in fact it *can* be better than even single deck, but most of the time that is not the case.  Honestly, I wouldn't bother trying to count cards in any casino, there are many other reasons why it won't work anymore.

Jeesh, you people know that the book the movie was based on, Bringing Down The House, was written about events that took place over 20 years ago, right????    Why are so many people asking about this now, you can't do it.
