Can cars overtake buses at bus stops?

Just wondering if cars can overtake buses at bus stops whilst the bus is there? and can they over take if the traffic light in front is green?

  1. Are you talking about school buses or city buses? There's a huge difference.

    If a school bus is stopped with its lights flashing, all other traffic is required to stop until the red lights on the bus cease flashing.

    That's not the case with city buses. They stop all the time, but other traffic is not required to. And it's a good thing. The traffic jams would be horrific if everyone had to stop every time a bus did.

  3. Yes you can overtake a city bus in many states, call your local police department and ask them to make sure........

  4. Yes, carefully in case someone walks out from in front of the bus.
