Can cataract surgery be done when te problem has just started?

  1. Yes it can. It is usually recommended to wait until it is bothering you, when that is will be different for different people. There are risks involved even though the procedure is a very safe one, and so it is not recommended to do it unnecessarily early.


  2. The cataract has to be mature enough before a surgery is performed. It's growing and if they were to take it out before it's ready the cataract could come back. I know it's frustrating to wait because the vision is getting blurry. But once the surgery is done and they put a new lens in your eye, you'll be seeing  a whole lot better. Some patients saw better after surgery than they did before the catarat, thanks to the new lens.

  3. probably not--i had to wait bout 2 years untill it got what they called "ripe"  they won;t operate till it's ready---then they will put in a lens
