I have a kitten that was born on March 2 of this year. I want to take her to the vet, but I have to wait so I can save up money to take her.

  1. Usually most vets want to do it at no younger then 6 months. Cats 6 months and older can get spayed or neutered. Some just want the procedure done as soon as possible to prevent pregnancy. Even senior cats can get spayed or neutered. Contact your local non-kill shelter or humane society they can direct you to low-cost spay and neuter clinics in your area. Usually getting a pet spayed or neutered with their shots at such a clinic is cheaper then getting it done at a vet's office. Good luck.

  2. Cats can get shots and spayed anytime.  If a cat is in heat at the time it will cost a little bit more money but well worth it.

  3. Of course! They're never too old to be vaccinated or spayed so long as they're healthy. Vaccinations usually start at 8-9 weeks and neutering from 5 months, although many cat charities will have it done at 8 weeks.

Keep her inside until she's spayed, she's more than old enough to get pregnant.

  4. Lots of shelters have low-cost spay/neuter clinics, and shot clinics as well  At her age, she's going to come in to heat soon, so the quicker you can get her spayed, the better.  Make some phone calls, see what's available in your area, and perhaps you can get her spayed quickly for less money than you thought.  In the meantime, be sure to keep her indoors because 5 month old cat can (and do!) become pregnant.

  5. yes that is the only time they can
