  1. Considering the fact that cats have eyes.. and reflections. I'm going to say yes.

  2. My cat completely ignores his image in the mirror. I'm sure he sees it but just doesn't react to it. Perhaps he has realized that it's not a real "live" animal and is not interested in it.

  3. Absolutely.

  4. The funniest thing I have seen my cat do is try to rescue the cat in the mirror. She spent like an hour trying to figure out how to get it out.

  5. yes but they dont recognise themselves

  6. Yes.  Mine do.  But they do not appear to realize it is them self.  They try to sniff, paw, and arch their back at the reflection.  It makes me laugh my butt off...  lol :0

  7. They can see the image, yes, but it does not register in their minds that the image is a reflection of them.  Only dolphins, humans, and some apes have this ability.

I have seen videos of cats attacking their image in mirrors, so it is clear that they do not understand what the image is.  This is the reaction of most animals.  On the other hand, dolphins and apes examine the image and at least know that it is not another animal, and that it follows their exact movements, so it must be them.

  8. of course they can, b ut i think personally, depending on there personality, it depends how they react to it... like my kitties look in the mirror and one them tries to get the mirror cat out and teh other one hisses at it haha

  9. i don't see why not.

my cat never seems bothered though.

  10. My cat Luna never seemed to bother with himself in the mirror.  He could see the reflection, and would glance at it, but it didn't seem to bother him.

I have mirrored wardrobe doors in my bedroom and he would often walk past without bothering...until the first day he witnessed the 'other' cat with the doors open.  He sat for a few minutes just staring at his own reflection, then moved to the open door.  Sitting in front of the mirror, he'd stare at his reflection, while reaching a paw into the open door, and swiping behind his own reflection -as if trying to catch the other cat.

He only does this if the door is open.  If' it's closed, he walks on by with just a simple glance.

Don't get it, but then that's Luna!

  11. Mine like to play with the kitty in the mirror.  Three cats out of four of my cats like to do this..
