  1. Cats will not specifically understand what you are saying. They will first get the tone of your voice. And they will read your body langage. And they will know your routine. Cats are very sensitive and they understand the waves that are in your tone of voice, your behavior or just in which room you stand.

  2. Probably not the way people understand each other, but they do understand simple commands and their names.  I have four cats, and they are all pretty smart.  They talk, just differently.

  3. Maybe just some phrases like their name, food, here kitty, etc. But other than that no. I think cats talk to other cats about stuff. Haven't you ever seen cats having a conversation?

  4. yes my cats understand what i say to them, and i understand what they say to me,i know when they want feeding, when they need to go outside, when the cat flap is stuck and they cant get in they keep scratching at the flap till i get up and open the door to let them in.one will tell me when she wants some prawns, and they don't talk to other cats about stuff. but they do interact with another cat by signs of affection or aggression,ie if one of my cats tries to shove her nose into the others cats dinner she will hit him on the head or growl at him till he moves and she can carry on and eat her dinner.
