Can cell phones cause cancer?

hello ,

i am 12 years old and i really want to get a cell phone but the problem is that my mom wont let me until i start driving but that is in 3 to four years and currently i am starting to do more acivities like riding my bike to school and i will be going to my friends house more often and stuff like that and my mom is really paranoid and over protective and i just need some insight about cell phones and i would be willing to pay for it all by my self but my mom wont buy it and all of my friends have them i am the only person in my grade that doesnt have one and i really need to convince my mom to give me one at least when i am thirteen whitch will be in like 10 months and i can wait that long or until i am fourteen would be just fine but i need to convince her that thirteen or fourteen would be a resonalble age so i need that and i need to know if cell phones cause cancer ????? thanks!

I heard that they did but I dont believe it... just like my biology teacher told me that if a guy listens to a mp3 player a lot like (ipods, zunes etc.) a lot then they loose sperm... I dont know though.

Yes,cell phones can.Just don't use them too long.

First of all you should ask your mom to get you one of the kind that are monitered by parents. Basically it has a GPS in it and it can tell you where your kid is. That would be a good thing. However, I will say i can't really disagree with your mom. You say that you will pay for the cell phone by yourself, but you are 12 and probably don't have a stedy income other than an allowance. Furthermore, when your mom buys a cell phone unless she does pre-paid, she's signing a contract saying that she will keep it on and keep the bills paid for a year. In all honesty that's INSANE, because you are in school, you aren't even in highschool yet, and you aren't supposed to have cell phones at school. So she's going to pay for a phone that you are supposed to have turned off anyway. You spend most of your time at school and that's time that the cell isn't being used, and if it is used and then confiscated, she's STILL paying for it. Plus i'm sure you have a home phone. Therefore not only will she have to continue to pay for a house phone bill now she has to pay a cell phone bill. Furthermore as far as things causing cancer, a few years ago they were really sure that french fries cause cancer. Everything causes cancer, give it a few years and the whole cell phone cancer thing will blow over. You are good to go on that.

Cell Phones do not cause cancer themselves, but it increases the risk. This is because of the radiation given off by the device.  It gives off radiation because it is trying to reach a satellite that is in space, with a certain frequency.  See this website for more details:

I can't remember if it causes cancer, but I do know that studies have shown that the waves from the cell phone causes an increase in allergy symptoms.....

You're best bet would be to search for some news articles.
