Can centipedes play dead underwater?

Can they play dead for like 4 minutes under water?

  1. Insects and other arthropods can survive underwater for quite some time.  They breath through their skin which requires an oil, surfactant, to coat their bodies.  This oil has the property of increasing the surface tension of water, therefore a large air bubble accompanies the insect under water. The insect breaths the air in this bubble for some time.  How long it lasts varies between the arthropods and how active it is.  As far as playing dead, I have no knowledge of arthropods doing this. Some arthropods do have a defensive posture which may appear to be "playing dead".
