Can children/babies get alien hand syndrome?

when the had starts to manipulate tools, then the brain must have an understanding of how that tool works, so can a baby, (who cant hold a bottle ect) get alien hand syndrome???

  1. A baby can get alien hand syndrome, but the normal interpretation of AHS is that the hand is a seperate being and that This Is Wrong.

    A baby wouldn't have any reason to think that this was wrong, and would never know that their hand wasn't supposed to be acting 'on its own'.  

    Something like being born colorblind, and never realizing it.

    So yes, a baby could have the basic neurological AHS, but probably would not have the psychological componant that bothers so many of the sufferers.

    (Edit -- I guess part of your question was whether or not the hand would be able to learn new actions. It would; AHS affects the conscious feeling of self-control, but not the ability for the hand to learn new actions.)
