Both my children were exposed to chicken pox infected friends well before those children developed the rash. My youngest was vomiting about two weeks ago and had been feeling unwell for about a week after. No spots appeared. My eldest this morning broke out in a huge rash. I wonder whether my youngest may have had it also but didnt develop the spots????? Can anyone advise me whether this can occur?

  1. first are you talking about the measles because it seems like thats what you are saying measles have red rash. the measles you have to be very careful with them you always want to keep your child in a dark room when first onset unless time has change. i do think your  youngest might of had a stomach virus but he could have been sick with the chicken pox.you see chicken pox have nasty round sores with fulid in them. i can tell you what happen to me my sister and son yes you can have the virus and not get the sores they call that a mild out break. my  baby was 3 and was covered from head to toe but when it came to me i had a mild case. see this is how it went my son give them to me and i turn around and gave them to my sister that was also covered. when you have to worry is when the sores  are wet and when you have a fever. once they dry compelely and no fever you can't pass it on to others. the sores can leave really bad scar's if not taken care when they start to dry remember they itch very, very bad.

i sure hope i helped you some

  2. It would be very unusual for a child to get sick with chicken pox but have no spots. Generally the younger they are the less severe they get it. My son was 13months old when he got them and had maybe 40-50 spots all up.

Those with chicken pox are infectious for a few days before any symptoms up until all the blisters are scabbed over. The incubation period is 2-3 weeks. It starts with cold like symptoms for a few days then red spots appear that turn into clear fluid filled blisters.

Sounds like your youngest may have just had a virus, they may still end up getting chicken pox yet. Especially if your eldest has it.
