Can children or do children get I.B.S?

Yes they do but I think they actually call it something else until they reach a certain age.  I know as a toddler I had bowel problems and they did tests and told my mom the name of it but said it was basically IBS in a child. Then when i turned 13 they started calling it IBS.

Yes it is possible and they are just like the symptoms an adult gets

My son has stress bowels, e.g if he is stressed about anything he gets either runs or stomach pains or both. He has to do anti stress breathing exercises and try talking about problems, also his teacher is aware of this and he has hidden spare boxers and wipes for school, he doesn´t have to ask to go to the loo at school he is allowed to go whenever needed thank god.

Hope this helps, he is 9 and my brother had this when he was a child too.

Yes, children can get IBS, however in the under 18 population, IBS seems to be more prevalent in teens. In gastroenterology, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a functional bowel disorder characterized by mild to severe abdominal pain, discomfort, bloating and alteration of bowel habits. In some cases, the symptoms are relieved by bowel movements.[1] Diarrhea or constipation may predominate, or they may alternate. Such events are often brought on by a stressful or traumatic life event.

If you think your child suffers from IBS, you should take them to a doctor. Several conditions may present as IBS including celiac disease, mild infections, several inflammatory bowel diseases, functional chronic constipation and chronic functional abdominal pain, so your child's doctor will test for all of these conditions. In IBS, routine clinical tests yield no abnormalities, though the bowels may be more sensitive to certain stimuli, such as balloon insufflation testing.

my daughter has had crohns since age 12 so i would guess they could.
