  2. Shouldn't your children be vaccinated anyway?

  3. Usually by the time the pox are out on the skin, the person is only contagious a few days longer.  The pox just look nasty.

My children and I stayed home until our pox were dry to make sure we did not pass it on to anyone else and for me, I was just really tired.

So, it depends on when the kid in the pool caught the disease and how long since the pox came out.  This backs me up:

"Chickenpox is contagious, meaning that someone who has it can easily spread it to someone else. Someone who has chickenpox is most contagious during the first 2 to 5 days that he or she is sick. That's usually about 1 to 2 days before the rash shows up. So you could be spreading around chickenpox without even knowing it!"

  4. Chicken pox blisters contain pus, which can carry the illness to other swimmers. That child should NOT be in a public pool. The lifeguard should have been notified and the child removed from the pool.

  5. The chlorine in the water might kill it but chicken pox is an airbourne illness. Just being near someone with chicken pox is a risk if they cough or sneeze. That kid should have been at home. What was his mother thinking?
