  1. Children hospitals, schools, and Dr Offices sometimes hire CNA to work for them. It helps if you have some type of experience working with children.

  2. you can assist in pediatric unit thats my only guess, i would apply to cna positions in pediatrics at PureMedicalJobs.com

  3. The CNA program was specifically designed for long-term care centers, aka nursing homes. The laws that resulted in requiring the certification courses were specifically for long term care facilities, and long term care facilities are the only one required to hire CNAs for that scope of practice. My certification says, "____ has successfully completed competency evaluation as a Long-Term Care Facility Nurse Aide".

There are many places that would prefer to hire someone with some training, but they are not required to. There are not many jobs with children doing nurse's aide work, and they would be kind of competitive since so many people like working with kids. Look into home health aide training programs since some parents with special needs kids may want help at home. Hospitals can hire off the street but usually like hiring CNAs, but only a big hospital would have a real need for pediatric aides, and like I said they would be competitive. There are other jobs that are not CNA jobs that may like that you are a CNA. You could get a job as a teacher's aide with special needs kids. Usually that is on the job training, but they may like that you have some training with health care.

Just keep your eyes out for jobs that sound interesting to you, but if you really need the job right now you may need to suck it up and start applying to nursing homes. Don't quit right after being hired if you find a job with kids, but you don't need to stay at the nursing home forever if you find another job.
