Can coaxial cable be used to connect satellite dish to HD receiver?

I am upgrading from standard def Dish service to a HD receiver and want to know if all the cable needs to be replaced, or if the existing coaxial cable is OK.

  1. It depends on which cables you are referring to.  If you mean the cables between the dish antenna and the receiver, no that will be fine.

    If you are referring to the cables between the receiver and the HDTV, you have some choices.  An HDMI cable would probably be the best choice.  You don't need the really expensive cables, either.  The ones that come with the satellite receiver are good enough.

  2. if you want your picture to be hd you need to have an hd dish and an hd reciever and an hd tv. you must use an hdmi cable to connect your reciever to your tv. sorry but thats the way it has to be.
