  1. Well My bird George can't talk but whistles very well. He can Make kissing Noises

  2. yes mine could whistle a song as well

  3. Cockatiels usually do not learn to talk, and if they do then it's a very limited vocabulary. However, that does not mean that they do not learn how to mimic sounds. Cockatiels can learn many different whistles, bells, even the telephone ringing. It takes time to teach some sounds to them, but some they will pick up just from being inside of the house.

  4. A good bird care taker could easily teach the cockateil bird talk.

  5. yes, the one's i've seen talk have all been males.

  6. males talk better than females, my male says hello uh oh and mumbles daddy... he also can ring like a phone and a microwave lol   they can learn a few dozen words if taught real well, good luck   check out http://www.parrotcentral.net/cockatiels.... for more info

  7. Yes, they can learn to talk.  It isn't easy.  My bird started, and then just shut down.  Take and record words on a recorder.  Then play the recordings everyday.  It's easiest to start with two syllable words like: Baby, Daddy,Hello,Money etc.  It may take a long time.  It takes commitment.

  8. My cousin taught their's to talk.. And it's so cutee.. It like walks around and picks up their pencil.. So sutee

  9. Yes they can and if worked with often males can pick up quite a few phrases.  Mine says 15 phrases, with the longest one being 6 words long...."you're such a good pretty bird".  He was only a few months old when he started speaking, and can associate words with their meanings.  Example, in the morning he will say "good morning, cuddle cuddle?" and lean in to be cuddled.  or "kiss kiss *smooch*" and lightly bite my lip to kiss me.

I've had many cockatiels in my lifetime, all the males have spoken.....and turned out to be major screamers, once you've worked them so much to get them to learn words, they're so used to being spoken to all day long that they really dislike being ignored, even for 5 minutes.  The females have been very quiet except for in the morning when they give off whistles.
