Can college servers see what I'm downloading?

I'm using college internet. Do they have access to everything I download, whether it's a trial to game or a document.

  1. Yeah.

    It's probably not a good idea to dowlnload anything innapropriate, just incase.

    They won't know unless they search through the server, but it's still too risky.

    If you really wanna download something yourself, by your own internet service like a verizon chip thing.


  2. Yes. I work at a CLEC and I can tell you that they can easily watch the traffic going to your computer.

    Look up Wireshark sometime, that's one of the programs they use.

    You shouldn't download anything you don't want plastered in the NY Times the next morning.

  4. In short yes. If you are using there sever then depending on how they have it set up (and i am asuming that it is the same as my college) They can definitly see what your activity is.

  5. Probably, They dont want a guy downloading terrorist documents if he is a terrorist!

    Or just bad stuff that can crash a network.
