  1. Never saw one do that.  However, the Department of State may have internships in Washington DC.


  2. Actually, they do. Most of the internship positions are in Washington, of course, but they do post some people overseas, in the more user friendly posts. Part of the difficulty in getting substantive internships is the necessity for security clearances. Plus, the bulk of the internships are unpaid, and DC isn't exactly cheap.   3. unless  they have changed the regs  now  back in the Early 90s i was  stationed abroad  embassy  security  (guards)   and never encountered  one
