  2. the particles of colloidal system have a size of 1nm to 100nm..so the solute and solvent cannot be separated by ordinary filtration but may be separated ny ultrafiltration.the size of colloidal particles is smaller than the pores of the ordinary filter paper,therefore they easily pass through a filter paper.however,colloidal particles cannot pass through animal membrane,parchment paper or ultra filter.so if Fe(OH)3 forms a colloidal solution  it should pass through a filter paper.
