Can comcast tell if someone is on there Internet?

when i first moved into this apartment the cable cord was still active so i conected it to my tv and it worked so i left it like that.

now some one gave me a cable box and a comcast internet modem i conected both and they worked so my question is can they tell some one is using there serves

They can tell if someone is using their servers, and though it is unlikely they will pin it down to you right away, it is probably not likely.  

However, there is a chance that they can peg you down because of the signal that should have been cut off. Chances are they won't bother you too much about it, just disconnect the feed outside that leads to your apt.
