Can companies requests for people to spend £4 in there shop before purchasing gas or electricity?

my nan is 75yrs old and was told she would be unable to get gas and electricity from a particular londis store unless she spent £4 in the shop im absolutly furious my nan ended up purchasing stuff she didnt need when the money could have given her extra light and gas i would appreciate an answer asap

This is illegal to force your customer to buy things they do not want. You should complaint with the concerned authorities.
