Question:

Can connect with router (showing full strength) but get No Internet Connection..?

Recently any of my wireless device (laptops and game consoles) have lost all Internet Connection. All the wireless devices show they have full strength to the Router but when you go to open up the Internet, it won't connect to the Internet. All the lights on the Router show everything is connected and has connectivity to it, but won't allow onto the Internet. Even with the Desktop PC hooked up (wired) to the first Port of the Router, I still get no Internet Connection.

Is there anything I can do to get back my Wireless connection and my Router working properly? Please HELP!

Thanks!

  1. Check your DNS settings to see if that is the problem... to fix a DNS issue go to Start>RUN>CMD>Enter> then type in: IPCONFIG /flushdns then press enter> then type ipconfig /registerdns.

  2. Turn off and unplug all the computers in your house.  Remove the wire to your computer.  Unplug the router.  Wait a couple minutes, then plug the router back in, reconnect the wire to your computer, plug your computer in and boot.

This will cause the router to flush out whatever is troubling it.

If this doesn't work, your router has probably gone belly up.  Is it plugged into a Surge Detector?

The DNS thing simply resolves site names into site numbers.  Those are saved in cache to save time, sometimes you have to flush that cache and get it to start over.
