Question:

Can contacts get stuck behind your eye?

Ok, I know this sounds silly but I have never worn contacts before and I'm scared of them going behind my eye and getting stuck there, or breaking apart and little bits going behind there. I tend to have dry eyes anyway but am worried about them being too dry with contacts and them falling apart.

  1. Nope

And they are pretty strong, never had one break.

  2. Nothing to worry about my sister's got dry eyes sometimes and sometimes she wears them when her eyes are dry its impossible for that to happen because if that did happen people wouldn't wear contacts would they?

  3. No they can't go behind your eye, occasionally they can fold and go under your eyelid but it's not painful and it's nothing to panic about, you can easily get them out just by pulling your eyelid up a bit.  The conjunctiva (the tissue covering the white of your eye) is connected to the inside of your eyelids and stops this from things from being able to go behind your actual eye.   If lenses could go behind your eye just think of all the dust and other c**p you would collect behind your eye throughout your lifetime.

  4. No, in the case if it moves too far to either side it will eventually move to the right spot. I've had some rip, but never in a bunch of pieces. If you have dry eyes chances are they won't be floating around your eye too much anyway, They'd just stay stuck to the cornea. (Not comfortable at all)

  5. My Mum worked for an Optician and they had one woman who was always forgetting she had lenses in and fallen asleep wearing them (this was pre-overnight lenses).

Anyway, this woman would always 'lose' a lense in her eye but the optician would get her to do these strange eyeball movements and the lens would come back to the front of her eye.

They won't get stuck, unless you put one in, forget about it, sleep and even then it could just stick further up in your eye a little and they are quite tough so they won't break.

Buy eye drops for lens wearers to keep your eyes wet BUT if your eyes really are dry, you shouldn't be wearing lenses anyway.

  6. ok first of all i'll say i could not do contacts because of major anxiety about putting them in and them getting stuck!!! but my eye doctor at vanderbilt told me there was no way they could get stuck!!!! my sister has contacts she has broken two contacts in the past but it was only because they were stuck to the mirror and she couldn't get them off it!!!! i was worried about them breaking in my eyes too but the eye doctor told me that couldn't happen either!!!!! so good luck and i'm sure you'll do better than i did!!!!!!!!!

  7. This is a myth .You definitely cannot lose a lens behind your eyeball .  Soft contact lenses can tear but they don't break into little bits . Gas permable cannot break inside your eye. If you get dry eyes while wearing contacts you can get special eyedrops called Refresh that will lubricate your eyes . Don't worry so much about contact lenses you will be fine . I have wore both types over the years and never had a problem . Good luck .
