  1. Scanners have been known to have this capability. Not sure how, but is supposed to be possible.


  2. it depends on the age of the device. Older cell phones could be monitored very easily, older cordless phones too, but since most everything is encrypted these days, you cannot monitor a phone call very easily.

    Can it be done? YES, anything can be done. Can it be legally? NO, the Communications Privacy Act prevents anyone from decoding an encrypted communication. To do so requires some serious receiving equipment. Agencies such as the NSA, FCC, would have this, but not the private individual.

    However, older, analog 800 MHz phones can be easily monitored, leagally? NO, but it can be done with something as simple as on old TV with a tuner that covers to Ch83.

    Baby monitors can be heard on scanners. Older cordless with rod antennas can be heard on scanners too.

  3. Not if they're digital.  If they are analog ( not many of those still around), then yes, it's easy with a scanner.
