They're cops, they can do anything they want generally and get away with it. What is going to happen....the judge will believe you (THE CRIMINAL) over a cop? Don't bet on it...

no they have to follow all road rules unless there emergency lights are on.

Laws in most jurisdictions require police to obey all traffic laws unless certain criteria are met (rushing to an urgent call, chasing someone evading, etc.).

Cops have a difficult, dangerous and thankless job but they're beginning to bend the rules too much.
