  1. I use cotton for filtering grease that I use to

    make Bio-Diesel Fuel.

  2. YES!! cotton is recyclable!  you yourself can become creative and recycle it yourself, but companies are coming up with ways to recycle cotton, there is even cotton insulating (instead of fiberglass) which is very efficient and enviro friendly.

  3. Cotton is almost pure cellulose, which is a principal constituent of paper. The first modern industrial paper making processes used old cotton articles to make paper.  The sources quickly ran out, so they started recycling old paper, too, and using wood pulp (obtaining lower quality recycled paper).

The cellulose fibres in cotton are longer than in normal paper, so cotton textile is more durable than paper. Actually, if one would use cotton to make paper again, he would get a very high quality paper. The thing is, cotton is too expensive for this purpose. Hence, cotton can be easily recycled together with old paper, into new paper. If the cotton clothing article contains buttons and other plastic/metal stuff, or the cotton is dyed, it would not be advisable to recycle it into paper, but plain white cotton articles can easily be turned into paper. Long cellulose fibres would actually contribute to better final product (paper) quality.

  4. I take old cotton clothing and cut them up into houshold cleaning rags.  Then I wash the rags several times before I toss them out.  That way they are getting multiple uses by myself before they get tossed.

  5. If you mean clothes, I safe the good sections of old cothes to make quilts.

  6. yes cotton fibre can be recycled

  7. To some extent cotton can be turned into construction paper but for the most part it can't be recycle into much. But it is biodegradable so that balance it out.

  8. yes its a thriving business, i've seen the 'rag man' collecting the junk clothes round the back of the charity shops.

  9. if ya wanna recycle clothes then sure, but otherwise you can't recycle cotton
