My man is a county jail inmate and he ALWAYS calls me when he says he will. Tonight he has not called me one time all evening!!! Do you think the Sheriffs turned the inmates access to the phones off because someone got everyone's privelage taken away?

  1. That's a good possibility. They like to pit inmates against each other.

  2. Most likely.

  3. It is possible someone in the cell block misbehaved, and the jail staff could not identify them, so they are punishing the entire cell block until the culprit steps forward.

  4. Yes of course, you must not know to much about jail and that is diffiently something to be proud of.

Anytime one person does something wrong the chances of the whole dorm being punished has more possibilities than just that person. The way they figure it is that when someone does'nt listen then they take everyone's privileges away and that way all they have to do is let the inmates handle it from there. Because when they find out why they can't make a phone call or whatever they are not getting to do because someone s***w it up for them trust and believe after they express themself to that one that took away thier privelages how not to let it happen again is he best and easiest way to get any inmate to listen to the CO's.

So be upset with him because nothing in there that he tells you is for sure until he walks out that gate. Remember he is in their house and they can pretty much do anything they want.

The best thing for him is to do his time by staying by himself as much as possible. Don't get mixed up in the politics any more than he has to and mind his own business. Make sure what ever he see's or hears to be know he 's see or knows nothing.

  5. The Sheriff can take phone access away for any reason he/she wants.  Sometimes the phone gets damaged or starts being misused.  If inmates are using them for unauthorized things such as drug deals, requests for contraband or phone s*x the best way to deal with it is to disconnect the phone.

Since many jails have a pay phone in the common area that are for collect calls, it's difficult to determine who might be causing the problem (but you can bet that the other inmates know).  If turning it off will cause a little peer pressure inside the cells, it can keep things running better.

  6. ugh. this just happened to me last night.

  7. yes. the guards are in charge .. it may not be fair ... but it is jail.

  8. If it was me, I'd get down there and find out.

  9.        yes if one person  is the cause for all the problems  the inmate should be  locked down or charges brought up if need.  but yes  if one person causes problems  everyone  could have there phone  taken away and also have seen everyone  in lock down for a few inmates actions..
