  1. I cannot imaging that ... using a $1,000 camera and lens to do what a $25 webcam does.

As stated the mechanical design of any DSLR precludes it being used as a webcam

  2. You should use an av->usb adapter (or video-in card) and a webcam software, for example http://www.willingsoftware.com

How to work with the ‘Video Device > Video Output’ feature:

  3. No way Hosay! This isn't possible. The nikon d80 doens't have a live -view mode, and it doens't take videos in general. It can shoot at a certain frame a second, and i doubt it's 30FPS or 60FPS, i couldn't find the exact number. The nikon d80 is a digital single lens reflex camera, and it was never meant to be used as a webcam. Luckily for you, they are very cheap, and can be sold anywhere. Walmart, Target, etc. i know that some other cameras can be used as a webcam, but not a nikon DSLR, its just not possible. I have a nikon d40, so i'm sure you can't use it as a webcam ::P

They are very cheap, for like twenty to thirty dollars, but the quality of them is another story, try getting one of the fancy windows live messenger ones.

  4. Nikon D80? No, it has a mirror in the way and won't give a direct feed to the computer
