My 18 year old daughter who graduated in May, has moved to a nearby town and is working at Applebees.

She wants to get certified as personal fitness trainer, and so she will be dropped off of my insurance, since this is not a full time student program.

She was 18 in June, and lives in Texas.

She is going to soon have to be dropped of of my health insurance.

I do not think that Applebees provides any insurance for hourly employees. She also has asthma, although not real bad, but this is a pre-existing conditions.

Will she be able to get any kind of affordable health insurance, or is she just going to have to be one of the millions who can't have health insurance?

  1. You may try to google it,here has some direct resource that might be helpful.http://health-insurance.expert-tip.info/...

  2. It will vary by company but a mild case of asthma shouldn't be too bad. Several factors could influence the insurance companies' decision, such as any medications she is taking, if she smokes, if she's had any ER visits or hospitalization or if she's been treatment free for a certain period of time.

Visit a local agent that works with all the major companies in her area. The agent can find out what any insurance company may do prior to the application. Some insurance companies may increase the premium while others may rider the asthma. Some insurance companies may give her standard rates with some policies and not with other policies. There is no extra charge using an agent.

  3. Try this one - http://healthplans.bebto.com - my family have their health insurance - it is affordable and has good coverage for dental issues.

As I know they can provide coverage with preexisting condition including asthma.

  4. Mild asthma, meaning no oral steroids, only occasional use of a inhaler or nebulizer, and with no other conditions such as obesity or smoking is usually not a big deal. Call a local agent and ask him (her) to do a pre-screen with multiple insurance companies. This will save you a lot of time, and won't cost you anything extra.
