My daughter is 2 and a half years old. When we picked her up at daycare yesterday they said that she had very severe diarrhea several times during the day. When I got home with her she pooped 4 more times in 25 minutes. She was on an antibiotic for double ear infections and a sinus infection for 10 days. She took her last dose of the medicine on Friday the 11th. Would she still be affected with diarrhea that could be caused from the antibiotic even after that long?

  1. yes

  2. I doubt it is the side-effect of the antibiotic. A side effect should have started shortly (1 or 2 days) after she started taking the antibiotic, not after she stopped taking it.

  3. Could be the meds or drainage from the infection. Make sure you keep her hydrated. If she has more stools like that, I'd call the Ped, just to be sure.
