They can lead to something more. You just need to proceed with caution. Sometimes the best relationships come when you least expect it, and with people that you least expect it to happen with. However  both parties need to be open & honest with what they want, and have to be willing to take a chance that the current realtionship that they have, might get f-uped. The real question is not whether it could happen, it's whether or not you're willing to take a chance and possibly mess up the realtionship you already have, in hopes that it  could be better.
