  1. according to the packet sugar is a natural preservative and if kept in a cool dry place will keep indefinitely

  2. if you store sugar properly (like an airtight container in a cool, dry place) it can last indefinitely. however, if you leave it where it can get moist then it might make lumps. also, when it's moist it an absorb other unsavory odors.

so...i guess you could count absorbing odors as going stale. but it won't happen as long as it is stored correctly.

  3. Dry goods such as sugar, salt, flour (except flour with high fat content) really don't have any expiration dates and in fact they are rarely dated at all.  All of these products remain wholesome for several years if stored in a cool dry location.

  4. It can but only the top layer if it exposed

i mean the enitre thing cant because it is in a way...

guarded by the slowly dying top layer! :-)

  5. Sugar does not go bad or stale. It does get hard from moisture in the air. If your sugar gets hard, just put it in the microwave and it will get rid of any moisture and become usable again. This works great for brown sugar and that's got molasses in it.

  6. I'm not sure if it goes stale, but if its not kept properly it can clump together.

  7. yeah i think so it goes all hard and lumpy and turns yellow sometimes!

  8. the only way sugar can go bad is if it gets wet,
