My dogs will be sound asleep upstairs in the middle of the night. I will get up the couch downstairs and walk to the refrigerator and not make a sound. By the time the door is shut, both dogs are standing there smiling at my wagging their tails.

  1. Haha, I think you're right.. Fortunately, mine doesn't have a big appetite so I don't have that problem.... First time ever with a dog though!!!!

  2. They can hear well yes,... with their ears. They have been trained to believe that an open fridge means there's food soon, that's all.

  3. ha ha.

my dog does the same thing, but i think they smell it... and dogs are really sensitive to movement, so the vibrations of the floor could have been the issue too

    :)

  4. LOL, yes, sometimes it seems that way Gwynn. You can be sure that if it's not their stomachs that hear, then it's the food that's yelling 'eat me, eat me' ;DDD

  5. Stomach?

Dog's hearing is much more refined and they hear at different decibels and recognize footsteps. Also dogs are quite light sleepers.

    Good luck.

  6. Dogs can hear 5x's better than we can, which means a whisper in another room is the same thing as you speaking to their face.

  7. With their stomaches? No, not that I know of, ha aha ha, I'm pretty sure that they only hear with their ears!

  8. dogs have great hearing but only with their ears!

you think you are not making a sound but they can hear very well

  9. I don't know why I bother opening questions these types of questions anymore...

NO, they cannot "hear" with their stomachs.  If you think about it, that sounds absolutely insane.  They HEAR with their EARS.  Their senses are much more refined than yours, so when you're "not making a sound", it doesn't mean THEY can't hear you.
