  1. they bite, they can be annoying, they eat mosquittos, and they are pretty.

  2. They trying to help you out. There diet is mostly mosquitos.

  3. They have strong jaws and can deliver a vicious bite, but only if they feel threatened, like a bee stings only when attacked. Other than that, they do no harm. They prefer moist areas, therefore they will be at the pool a lot.

  4. Dragonflies are a ferocious predator of the insect world, devouring other insects. They have been around since before dinosaurs and are an integral part of many ecosystems. They are not harmful to humans.

    And I even found this

Odonata. This is an Order of insects whose members are loosely known as 'dragonflies' and which contains two main Suborders: Anisoptera (dragonflies) and Zygoptera (damselflies). In order to avoid confusion between the two meanings of the word 'dragonfly', it is easier to refer to the former as 'odonates', leaving 'dragonflies' for use when referring specifically to anisopterans. They are not difficult to separate from other orders of insects: adults have a pair of prominent compound eyes that take up most of the head, a contracted thorax bearing, as well as the usual three pairs of legs, two pairs of large, delicate, membranous wings, and a long, slender abdomen. They breathe through spiracles (holes) in the abdomen. During their earlier, larval, stage, the insects live in water and breathe through gills. During both stages, odonates exhibit voracious appetites, feeding exclusively on small animal matter. Contrary to general belief, they CANNOT sting - nor can they harm humans in any other way!

  5. Dragonflies are harmless to people.  I doubt they are attacked to you.  Perhaps you are attracting something a dragonfly might be interested in.

  6. Annoying?

    How are they annoying?

They are completely harmless to humans - I've had them nibble at my fingers when I've caught them, but they've never even broken the skin - and these are big Aeshnids, the largest dragonflies.

Dragonflies are agile and attractive, and most of their diet consists of flies, mosquitoes, and other insects we generally consider pests.  Even as nymphs, they are voracious predators, eating many mosquito larvae and other insect larvae.

I'm not quite sure how anyone can find that annoying.  If there were birds as active at hunting mosquitoes as dragonflies are, we'd be singing songs about them and building homes trying to attract to them our yards.  But since people find bugs "creepy", they get freaked out when a dragonfly flies near them.

  7. No, they are harmless.

they are annoying and they always get stuck in our screenroomed pool area at my house
