  1. Caffeine is a stimulant, not quite as potent as cocaine or amphetamines, but in a high quantites can have the same effects such as anxiety, nervousness, tics, tremors (shakiness), jitteriness, and actually has a pretty ridiculous withdrawal.  For example if you don't drink coffee or alot of caffeine for 1-3 days, you will probably get a migraine, compulsions to drink something caffeinated, lethargy, depression, and so forth.  It is a drug used in some newborn apnea disorders to stimulate the infants to decrease their spells of not breathing.  It is called caffecit or caffeine citrate.  It is a misconception that it doesn't affect the body as much as alcohol, marijuana, and cigarettes.  Remember this for future intake of anything, moderation is everything.

  2. Ease up Marty.

That stuff put me in the hospital.

I was drinking more then 20 cups a day.

That shaky feeling can turn into anxiety attacks and graduate to panic attacks.

I gave it up totally after what happened to me.

    No joke.

  3. Hah, yeah, the caffeine will make your body jumpy. It affects people differently, but 2 pots is alot and can be hard on your body. Also coffee has acid in it, which is hard on your teeth and stomach and can lead to ulcers. Caffeine is actually poisonous too, but it is impossible to get that much from drinking coffee, it would take something like 200 cups, but could be done with caffeine pills, but its a neat trivia fact. If you want to know more i suggest looking at wikipedia, they have a great article on caffeine.

  4. absolutely, its the caffeine.  too much chocolate or sugar does the same thing.  I hate that feeling actually but I do it to myself all the time.

  5. Heck yeah!  And can be dangerous from a medical standpoint.  I was doing the same thing and I began having a fluttery feeling in my chest.  I went to see a doc and was told I was having heart palitations.  My cousin developed the same problem from drinking too many vitamin waters, and my co-worker from too much mountain dew.  Moderation.  Can I suggest weaning yourself off completely...it takes about a week for caffine to completely exit your system...you will sleep better...so much better you can imagine...and therefore you will not need so much coffee to feel alive each day.

  6. Yes, it can...and your drinking way too much coffee. I can't imagine someone drinking that much...I love coffee myself...but 3 cups is the limit...sometimes just 2 cups....is your coffee maker a 12 or 10 cup pot....

24 cups of coffee...20 cups of coffee...a day!!! gosh...yes you need to go to decaf...and slow down on the coffee!!

  7. That is way too much coffee

  8. Caffeine makes you jittery, if the coffee is caffeine free it wont make you shaky.

  9. Yes.  2 pots a day is ALOT of coffee.  I too am a coffee drinker, but I switched to decaf.

  10. Yes. If it is regular coffee and you add sugar too it definately. That simply is too much caffeine and sugar. Caffeine not only dehydrates you, which makes you tired and more lathargic, but too much can actually be toxic.

If you drink coffee for taste alone then consider decaffinated. If you use it to keep you alert and awake then try something else.

First make sure you are getting enough water. 1 ounce for every 2 pounds of body weight and 8 ounces for every 20 minutes of exercise. Remember caffeine deydrates so even though you get water from the coffee some of it is offset by the caffeine. Next, make sure you are getting enough sleep. Most people don't and they think the answer is coffee, candy, sodas and energy drinks. There is no replacement for sleep.

It also sounds like you need a good basic multi vitamin/mineral supplement. Sometimes just that will make a difference. Remember the old saying, you get what you pay for. It is true with vitamins as well. Next if you need extra energy try a multi B complex supplement too. There are some energy drinks that provide energy from B vitamins and not from caffeine and sugar. They are XS energy (private distribution), Stacker's 6 Hour Energy, and the 5 Hour Power.

    Good luck

  11. Yes definitely try cutting out coffee for a while - or if that sounds like torture try decaf instead.  See if you feel better - if you don't then you'll know it wasn't the coffee and should go and see your doctor.  My guess is that it is the coffee though.
