gained a bit of weight from beer.. i know beer makes you gain.. but then I switched to whiskey thinking there are less carbs but I've gained even more now. I know sugars turn into carbs and calories when not burned and I guess there are sugars in whiskey.. how many grams of sugar is there in one shot of whiskey?

  1. Well alcohol turns into sugar in your body so drinking something like a Jack and Coke or a Rum and Coke is a big mistake. Your best bet when you drink is a Vodka with Soda. You can squeeze a lime or get a flavored Vodka. A great drink now is a Stoli Blueberry with Soda. Tasty tasty.

It is basically just empty calories you are taking, but by limiting the mixes it may help. If you drink sweeter drinks then you will be consuming more sugar from the mix. Alcohol doesn't have any sugar in it. ie. whisky, vodka, rum, tequila.

  2. Sometime I may research this:  a friend of mine told me that the reason people get "beer bellies" is because they are malnourished.

Makes sense.  Remember the commercials of starving Ethiopian children with distended bellies?

Be careful with all the drinking, dear.

  3. If you are just having one ounce, it's only about 64 calories, which isn't much.  If you have one or two of those a day it won't make that much difference.  If you just cut out one soda per day, you'd offset it cause that has 100-140 calories.  If you're drinking more than that, yeah the calories will start to add up, and the more you drink the less you are likely to move or excersise.
