  1. The fungus (  ascomycete microfungus, Ophiostoma ulmi e.g. ) causing dutch elm disease is only grafted by the elm bark beetle, specialized on several species of elms (Ulmus ); the American elm, in particular.

    Therefore dutch elm disease cannot effect any other organisms other than trees.
