Question:

Can eating a mostly raw food diet help with acne?

for the past two years i have taken an antibiotic and used prescription cream for my acne and it's worked really well but i don't want to use it anymore.

so suggestions of things to eat or things to stay away from or maybe some kind of vitamin that might help, i don't know.

I'm just tired of being dependant on this medicine and i don't want to continue the use of the antibiotic because of the good bacteria it kills.

  1. I hoenstly think acne has to do with a chemical balance within the body..so eating things like processed foods can actually coz hormonal imbalance within the body.

    like when i eat really healthy, seafood, baked chicken breast, veggies, fruits an such my skin seems to clear right up. and it has a glow too it. plus its not as oily..

    but if i start eating bad foods..like sugary, fried, processed or whatever..my skin starts breaking out in acne all over...like on my chest, back, face, bottom, thighs...and so on. my skin looks really haggard and it gets really oily.

    so yeah..go ahead and try the raw food thing...it doesnt hurt to at least try it and see what happens.

    i don't believe food has anything to do with acne

    but if your treatment is working then keep using it

    even if its a pain to use everyday

    because thats probably the best thing to fight the acne.

    But I know what you mean, my brother went through the same thing.

    I think it would help, because not alot of grease, fat and blood (ick)

    Would make anyone healthier.

    Eating Veg is for sure a good bet on great skin!

  4. Silly people who don't link what we eat to what we turn into...OF COURSE food does have to do with it.  So do toxins like smog, car exhaust, pollution, etc.

    I've been eating a raw vegan diet for 8 months now.  My acne has slowly started going away.

    Even if you don't feel ready to do all raw foods, if you just do a quart of green smoothie a day that WILL help your acne.  Green smoothies aren't gross...they're really sweet b/c they're made mostly of fruit with greens thrown in (your pick--collards, kale, spinach, beet greens, carrot tops, parsley, spinach).  There's a great book about this by Victoria Boutenko called "Green For Life".  I'd highly recommend it.

    Good luck!  I no longer take any medicine or vitamins...just fruit, greens, veggies, and nuts/seeds.  I just got my lab work back and all nutrient levels are GREAT.  Yes, protein too.

  5. Yes, food does have an affect on acne.  Mainly try to stay away from food/drinks with a lot of sugar and don't eat anything that is fried or greasy.  Also, replacing the majority of your drinks with water can help.

    I have had a problem with acne for a long time and I can honestly say that following those above guidelines has helped me quite a bit.

    About the raw foods diet, I plan on going on one soon.  From what I have seen, it is one of the most healthy diets you could possibly go on.  Since you won't be seeing any fried foods and what not in this diet, I would certainly expect it to help get rid of acne.  Also, cooking food tends to destroy some of the nutrients.  It basically kills the enzymes in the food which would normally help you digest it.  Although, I still haven't done ample research on this diet.

  8. the best thing to do if you want to stop using the medicine is to drink a ton of water.

    Your body needs water so drink that!

    So yeah drink water.
