  1. If they want

  2. sure! if they got paid extra to work a shift no one would normally work, and now they shut that shift down of course they can stop paying the extra!

you can always quit and find a better job.

  3. YES

  4. Yes, they can.

If the company views the shift change as a demotion of sorts, they have every right to take money away.

In your case, expect it because the only reason for the increase was working weekends.

    Sorry!! : (

  5. It's not that the salary is being reduced.  It's that the extra differential is no longer being paid.  Basically, everyone got the same base rate and weekenders got a bonus on top of that base.  No more weekends = no more hourly bonus.

If the extra 75 cents was for working on the weekend and there are no more weekend shifts, then everyone should be paid the regular rate.

As long as the rate is at least minimum wage, it's perfectly legal.

  6. An employer has to pay minimum wage. An employer can set a standard wage for a particular job and then give additional pay for graveyard shifts, weekend shifts, etc. If a person no longer works those shifts the employer is within his/her rights to return the employee to the standard wage.
