Can everyone see the paranormal or is it a gift?

I saw something paranormal once.

I believe that the ability to see spirits and entities is much like any other talent.

Imagine playing a piano. Some people find playing it very natural and are innately good at it. But everyone has the ability to learn how to play it, and with practice may become accomplished as well.

Some people can see spirits easily, while others - if inclined can work at it and learn how to see them.

I think it's both. I think there are those who just have a gift, an ability above and beyond the normal senses, that allows them to experience the paranormal, it becomes "normal" to them.

but I also think that if a spirit wants your attention, they'll do what they have to get it.

I liked a few of the answered you have already recieved but had to put my 2 cents in anyways. I think that piano analogy is very well put.  And I also think the person that said about minds being more open when you are a child and going closed when reaching adulthood is right also...

putting those two together would be what I believe....

everyone can start off with the ability...but those who practice it, will keep it.

Everyone has the ability to develop the ability to see the paranormal, but, it is a gift if you already have it :)

I assume that everyone can see the paranormal, YES. When you do see it, then that's the gift.

It is neither paranormal or a gift.

It is called being Psychic. Being psychic is a natural ability, natural to us all.

Some of us have it stronger than others, some choose to ignore it. What ever degree it is within you naturally it needs to be developed to  be of any real use.

it is almost always a gift.

For people who want to see ghosts but don't have the capability to do so, I recommend meditating.

Even though I was born with this gift, meditation increases my abilities.

its not so much a gift its more of something that everyone has but due to other people saying its not real they close the door to the paranormal world and thus the reason some people dont have the ability to be open to the paranormal, all it really takes to tune into the paranormal world is just a belief and not throwing everything right out as a scientific explanation

If paranormal things are real, isn't a bit odd that everyone cant see them? I mean, cups are real, everyone can see them. But schizophrenics talk to voices that aren't there...

One way I was taught about it is that you're with friends, each of you with a different radio (including signal strength) each of you can pick up something different. Also paranormal isn't just ghosts and spirits (I'm not saying you don't know thi, but just in case ;) ) it covers a wider range than that.

I think it is a special gift. My grandmother told me that it skipped a generation in our family, and went to the oldest granddaughter in the next generation, thus, I got it.

I would say not everyone perceives or has perceived a paranormal event.  A small percent of the population report having paranormal experiences.

Personally I don't think these perceived events exist objectively in the world independent of the people who perceive them, but then perhaps that's because it's apparent I don't have this special ability.

It is not necessarly a gift.  

It is something that your mind is more open too.

See, children are able to see spirits & communicate with them.  As we grow older tho, some people minds close, while others remain open.  Very simple
